How To Brew Tea
Steeping tea is easy! Each type of tea has a recommended water temperature and steeping time for optimal flavor. Use an infuser such as a brewing basket which allows enough room for the tea leaves to expand 2-4 times their size. Generally, a teaspoon of tea leaves is used for an 8 oz. cup of tea though some call for more. These guidelines are based on what is known about each type of tea and how they react to water temperature and steeping. By increasing or decreasing the water temperature, amount of tea used, and steeping time, you can fine tune your perfect cup of tea. ICED TEA Put your Short and Stout Tea over ice! Many of our teas lend themselves well to being enjoyed cold. Customer favorites include Melonaire, Pineapple Crush, and Black and Blue. To make Iced Tea, use double the amount of tea and steep as usual. Pour brewed tea over ice to drink immediately or add an equal amount of room temperature water and store in the refrigerator. If you would like sweetened tea, add honey or sugar while the tea is still hot.
